Domestic Violence Awareness & Healing Gathering

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Too often, their pain goes unseen, their voices unheard.

“From Pain to Power: Releasing, Healing, and Rising Together” October 30, 2025 5:30 pm

Join us for a healing evening to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and build strength as a community.

Our Domestic Violence Healing Gathering created a brave, sacred space for survivors, families, and community members to come together in truth, healing, and solidarity. Through heartfelt storytelling, grounding exercises, and collective reflection, participants explored the deep impacts of domestic violence and honored those whose lives have been forever changed by it. We centered love, safety, and accountability while uplifting the power of community care as a pathway to healing and liberation. Together, we affirmed that no one walks this journey alone — and that in Holmes County and beyond, we are building a future where every person, especially Black women and girls, is protected, heard, and held with dignity.

Farm to School Week at Nollie Jenkins Family Center

We brought healthy living to life with over 35 students participating in our Farm to School celebration!

Students rotated through fun and hands-on stations including:

Salad Making Station

Pumpkin Carving Station

Omelette Station

Juicing Station

Taste Test Station

Yogurt Parfaits

Each activity helped our youth explore where their food comes from, how to make healthy choices, and why fresh, local produce matters. From carving pumpkins to whipping up colorful salads and smoothies. The energy, creativity, and teamwork were overflowing!

This week is all about connecting students to the land, our local farmers, and the joy of fresh food. Thank you to everyone who helped make today a success! To get your students involved Check the comments for sign up link! See you soon.

International Day Of Action

Join us this April 30th for the International Day of Action to End Corporal Punishment! Together, we’re raising our voices to prioritize the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of all children. The day kicks off at 9 AM with “Voices Against Violence,” a digital dialogue and social media toolkit launch. At 12 PM, don’t miss our powerful webinar: “Acting Together to End State-Sanctioned Violence in Schools.” Then, wrap up the day at 6 PM with a student-led screening of “Legacy of the Lash: The Scars I Pass Down,” part 3 in a gripping video series. Corporal punishment is still legal in 17 U.S. states—mostly in the South—and it’s time to act. RSVP below to be part of this critical conversation and movement for change!
